Inter has 100 days to wait until the Champions League Round of 16 kicks off, but the Nerazzurri will learn its knockout fate as soon as tomorrow. The draw for the Round of 16 is scheduled to begin at noon CET in Nyon, Switzerland, or 6 AM ET/3 AM PT. In the US it can be streamed on Paramount +.
Here are Inter’s potential opponents, with Bayern (same group) and Napoli (same country) ruled out.
- Benfica (POR)
- Chelsea (ENG)
- Manchester City (ENG)
- Porto (POR)
- Real Madrid (ESP)
- Tottenham (ENG)
Benfica and Porto, the only sides not from a Top 5 league, are the easiest on paper but the former in particular is a more than formidable opponent. Joao Mario’s Benfica went undefeated in the group stage including a pair of draws against PSG and two victories over Juve. Tottenham is another winnable fixture, although the thought of facing Antonio Conte and Ivan Perisic isn’t appealing. Real Madrid and Man City are the two sides that the Nerazzurri want to avoid at all costs, while Chelsea won’t be an easy outing either after beating Milan 5-0 on aggregate in the group stage.
