Calleri's father has informed the press that the young striker will be leaving Boca Juniors, but a move to Inter is no longer on the cards.

For quite some time it had seemed like Jonathan Calleri would be Inter's next striker. There had been rumors linking him to the club for months and an agreement to send him to Bologna until the summer had already been put in place. As we know however transfer deals often do not work out as smoothly as one would hope and now Calleri's father has pulled the plug on a possible move to Inter in the near future.

The problems all seemed to arise due to Calleri's third-party ownership which complicated the move and would see him first be sent to Uruguayan club Deportivo Maldonado before any other transfer could take place. Inter seemed hesitant to finalize a deal at this point and Calleri was in limbo while everyone tried to figure out what to do next.

Now his father has outlined the future plans for the 22 year old. He will go to Deportivo Maldonado as previously agreed to between the club, Boca Juniors, and his third party owners Stellar Group though it doesn't look like he will stay there long. He still wants to go to Italy but wants to go to a club that will properly focus on him and invest in him. His father claims that Inter did not show the proper respect and interest in his son and thus the move failed to materialize.

Calleri looked like a promising player but some deals just don't work out. This transfer falling apart could allow for Mancini to put more effort in his pursuit of Eder, while it also makes it less likely that Jovetic will leave in January as some reporters have indicated could occur.

Jonathan Calleri is heading to Bologna soon, but it's unclear if he will join Inter in June as previously planned.

According to the media, Inter's long term-transfer target has been Jonathan Calleri. The 22 year old striker has been pursued by the Nerazzurri for months now, and even made a deal with Bologna for them to take him on loan in January since Inter cannot currently add another non-EU player to their squad. But recently all that work has seemed in jeopardy, and there is uncertainty if Inter will actually acquire the player they have spent so long trying to sign.

Problems began to arise a few days ago, when reports surfaced that Inter were considering pulling out of the deal. This was due to the third-party ownership that Calleri has with Stellar Group, the investment company that owns a part of the young striker along with Boca Juniors. Things got even more confusing when some began to say that Boca had already sold all of their shares in Calleri to Stellar Group, who had then registered him with Uruguayan club Deportivo Maldonado. FIFA and UEFA are not fans of these types of deals, and it seems that Inter might be hesitant to further put themselves under scrutiny by these organizations.

Boca Juniors president Daniel Angelici later reaffirmed that the deal was still happening but after a few more days of silence, Calleri's father stated that if there was no confirmation that the move would happen by Sunday then they would pull out and the Argentinian striker would remain at Boca. Now today his father confirmed that Calleri would be going to Bologna in January, and said in June he "could" go to Inter. Some say that the current deal is entirely with Bologna and Inter is not directly tied to the transfer at all. Others say that Bologna have already agreed to give Inter an option to purchase at the end of the season.

At this point Inter needs to definitively decide if they want Calleri or not. If they do they need to make sure that they have a deal in place with Bologna (or Stellar Group, Boca Juniors, or whoever else is involved at this point). If not then the club needs to move on to other targets.

Boca Juniors striker Jonathan Calleri is on the verge of officially becoming an Inter Milan player.

Jonathan Calleri's said recently that the Boca Juniors striker is very close to joining Inter Milan officially.

Even though the 22-year-old Argentinian player has also been linked with a move to Premier League side West Ham United, Angelo Paradiso (the agent) has insisted that a move to take his client to Milan is almost done.

Additionally, Argentinian journalist Pablo Gravellone, who workds for Argentine news outlet Todo Noticias tweeted regarding Calleri: "There is a verbal agreement. Calleri will sign for 5 years with Inter, then he will go on loan to Bologna." (via Sempre Inter)

Football Italia reported earlier today that Inter Milan have agreed to a deal with Argentinian side Boca Juniors for striker Jonathan Calleri.

The report claims that the two sides are in the process of completing a deal which would bring the 22-year-old striker to the San Siro, and that the move could be finalized as early as next week.

Argentine news outlet TodoNoticias reported that the Nerazzurri beat out the likes of English side Tottenham Hotspur to win the young player's signature.

Football Italia also noted that Inter have already filled all of their non-EU slots for the 2015-16 season, so if the deal does indeed go through Inter would probably have to loan Calleri to another Serie A side until the end of the season.

Calleri has done will with Boca Juniors over the past two seasons, and has netted 10 goals in 19 starts this season in the Argentinian top-flight division.

If true, I think this is an interesting move. If Calleri goes on loan for six months and then is available at the beginning of next season does that mean that a big Mauro Icardi sell is in the cards? Especially when there are rumors floating around that Man City are prepared to offer €40 million for him next summer?

I'm still not sold on selling Icardi. I understand money is a thing, but I would sure hate to see Maurito leave just when the club is really beginning to find its feet again.
