- Well, mystery solved on the Adriano front and quite frankly I’m a little upset I didn’t put 2 and 2 together more quickly. Seems L’Imperatore enjoyed his 25th birthday a little too much and wasn't able to bounce back for yesterday’s Champions League game. Part of me is pretty impressed, as his birthday was on Saturday, but this is an absolute joke. There was actually an interview with him in one of the Italian sports dailies not too long ago, where he talked about how grateful he was to Inter for sticking by him through his problems, and how fatherhood was going to change him, blah, blah, blah. Gullible sap that I am, I came away thinking "You know what? I think he’s going to get everything turned around." And now we’re back at square one and Adri could be writing his ticket out of town. Unreal. (Anyone know where you dump a guy like this in the post-Galactico world?)
I would also just like to apologize to the reporter I laughed at during Mancini’s press conference on Friday. The guy asked if Adriano’s birthday would effect the team selection. At the time, I thought it was pretty much the silliest question I’d ever heard. I just didn’t get it. I’m terribly sorry.
And finally, Moratti chimed in by informing everyone that Adriano wouldn’t be punished. They run a tight ship over on Via Durini. The chairman also thinks they’ll win in Spain, because Mancini says so.
- Lost in the newest Adriano mess is the fact that Patrick Viera will be out a month with knee/thigh strain suffered in training. It kind of got buried this week, but it was clear this was more than a pulled muscle as he immediately left for France after it happened. All things considered, this could have been a lot worse.
- And for those of you drowning in debt due to your bloated transfer fees and Brazilian striker-like bar tabs, the Inter credit card may be for you...
