From Inter.it:
Walter Mazzarri will be able to choose from 21 players when his Nerazzurri take on
Goalkeepers: 1 Samir Handanovic, 12 Luca Castellazzi, 30 Juan Pablo Carrizo;
Defenders: 2 Jonathan, 5 Juan Jesus, 6 Marco Andreolli, 23 Andrea Ranocchia, 26Cristian Chivu, 31 Alvaro Pereira, 33 Ibrahima Mbaye, 55 Yuto Nagatomo;
Midfielders: 11 Ricky Alvarez, 13 Fredy Guarin, 17 Zdravko Kuzmanovic, 19Esteban Cambiasso, 90 Patrick Olsen, 93 Diego Laxalt.
Forwards: 7 Ishak Belfodil, 8 Rodrigo Palacio, 9 Mauro Icardi, 47 Alessandro Capello.
Mazzarri has been consistent thus far in his selection of formation and his starting players but he’s going to have to mix things up a bit with Campagnaro out for the game and Samuel already injured – more on this at a future date.
I don’t know what Mazzarri is going to be focused on this game. He could merely put what he thinks will be his best group out there to start and continue to hone and sharpen that group. Or he could do some experimentation to see if certain groups of players who wouldn’t normally be playing together can make a cosmic connection that hasn’t been seen yet.
Today might be about X’s and O’s, not Jimmie and Joes. Maybe today is going to be about formation, compactness, movement or forms – getting the team to work together in position, recovery and then attack.
More likely, today might be more about physical preparation – getting certain players to be able to than personnel, or tactics.
Frankly, we could use work in all three departments
