Inter set to face Cagliari in Coppa Italia Round of 16

Now that the preliminary rounds are all done, Inter Milan are set to face Serie B side Cagliari in the Coppa Italia Round of 16 later this month.

On its face, this sounds like an easy matchup. Cagliari were relegated last season, after all. But if we examine the Rossoblu a little closer, we find that they may actually provide a pretty stiff test for the Nerazzurri.

Cagliari are enjoying quite a bit of success this season, and currently sit atop the Serie B table. In addition, Cagliari knocked off Sassuolo (who are sixth place in Serie A) to advance past the Round of 32 earlier this week.

Obviously, Inter are still heavy favorites to win this match. The team has been playing well lately and simply has more talent with which to overpower a team like Cagliari.

The match will take place on Tuesday, December 15th at 3:00 p.m. ET / 21:00 CET at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
