MATCH INFO:
Date: Wednesday, February 4, 2015
Venue: Stadio San Paolo, Napoli, Italy
Time: 2:45pm ET / 20:45 CET
Inter travel to Napoli tomorrow to take on the defending Coppa Italia champs in a quarterfinal clash in the competition. Roberto Mancini will have a more complete squad at his disposal than usual, as several players have returned from international duty, injury, or suspension. Newcomer Marcelo Brozovic is also in the squad and could get called upon by Mancini for his second appearance in as many games since joining Inter last week.
Taking Inter's recent results into consideration, a third place finish in the Serie A table seems to be drifting further and further out of reach with each passing match. It seems that the club's golden opportunity to lock down European competition for next season is to make it to continue to advance in this tournament. It is true that Inter are still alive in the Europa League as well, but it seems like it's only a matter of time until the Nerazzurri are sunk in that competition by a side who have been playing more consistent football this season.
If (and, granted, that is a big if) Inter manage to pull out a win against the current cup-holders, they will be one step closer to earning their chance to compete in European football next season, even if it is just the Europa League (and, hey, that's certainly better than nothing, right?)
