The last day of the winter transfer market is coming to the end, and the Nerazzurri took advantage of the last few hours to make a move that could be seen as a meaningless one for many, but they did it with a smart purpose.
The club released this statement this afternoon:
F.C. Internazionale would like to announce the signing of Edmund Etsè Hottor on a free transfer. The player has signed a contract until 30 June 2016 and has joined Atlético Clube de Portugal on loan today.
Sounds pointless right? Let me explain you why it isn't. At all.
As you all can imagine, Inter have no interest in resigning the 22-year-old Ghanian defensive midfielder this June, when his contract will end, but his departure will leave one more non-European spot free for Inter this summer, allowing them to have more flexibility while looking for possible new signings.
It is a smart use of the transfer market regulation by Inter, which may want to use this cleverness on the pitch as well to start winning football games again.
