News has been picking up recently that Roberto Mancini has prioritized the signing of a right winger, likely either Dominico Berardi or Antonio Candreva. Today Federico Pastorello, the agent of Candreva, told the media that he would be meeting with Inter to talk about a transfer for his client. That part was expected but he also mentioned that he would be discussing the availability of another client of his, Pablo Zabaleta.
The Argentine fullback has been linked to the Nerazzurri before, earlier in the spring there were reports that Inter wanted to bring Zabaleta to Inter but they wanted Manchester City to pay the remaining year’s salary left in his contract. I’m assuming Manchester City’s representatives laughed their way out of the building after hearing that offer because nothing more really emerged after that until now. With Inter actively pursuing Candreva, Pastorello might be looking to use this opportunity to see if Piero Ausilio is still interested in Zabaleta.
I hope this is just a case of an agent peddling his client. I was always pretty indifferent towards the idea of Zabaleta coming to Inter, even if Man City paid a year of his wages. Without that deal on the table I’m going to have to pass on the 31 year old, and I hope Ausilio and Mancini do the same.
