It hasn't been the easiest summer for Davide Santon. The Italian full-back spent most of last season on the sideline mainly because of some injuries that kept him from playing regularly but the lack of playing time was also due to Mancini who lost faith in him after bringing him back last January. Davide wants to play and the fact that Inter brought in two new full-backs this transfer market clearly suggests that he wouldn't make as many appearances as he would like next year, that's why he is trying to leave the team in any possible way.
He was on the verge of signing for a new team two times this summer but for completely different reasons both deals didn't go through. The first one, with Sunderland, was blocked by the player when the Premier League team wanted to include a clause in his contract that would have allowed the club to significantly reduce his wage in case of relegation. The second one, with Napoli, wasn't finalized because De Laurentis vetoed the transfer at the very last minute because he didn't like the player even though the media reported that during the medical an undisclosed potential issue was found in Santon's knee.
So this is the third time Santon tries to leave Inter this summer and we all hope that he will finally be able to join a team that would give him what he wants. He already flew to London to undergo his medical for West Ham. The Hammers offered €550k to acquire the player on a season-long loan with an option to buy at the end of it set at €5.9M.
Is this the end of the Santon summer drama?
