Romelu Lukaku has had a recent run of form that has made Inter fans remember why he was such a big deal in the first place. The Belgian was riddled with injuries the first half of the season and made a permanent deal seem impossible and foolish, but now, who knows.
Ultimately, the best business for Inter and Chelsea is likely another year on loan at a reduced rate. However, stranger things have happened. Lukaku has also reportedly gone as far as telling new Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino that he isn’t interested in a return to the Blues. I would bet a lot of money that these recent Inter matches are seducing Poch and he’s picturing Rom leading his Chelsea line next year.
The report, coming to us via SempreInter from FCInterNews, details that Lukaku and Inter are going to try and make a loan deal work next year at a reduced rate. Chelsea, given that they have literally zero leverage, will probably make this deal work and hope Lukaku can have an injury-free season next year and then they can cash in.
