The first transfer rumor of the summer

Inter’s 2022/23 season isn’t over just yet, but the summer transfer rumors have already begun. According to Marca, the Nerazzurri are interested in soon-to-be free agent Nacho Fernandez and are ready to offer the 33-year-old a three-year deal. The Spaniard has played at Real Madrid his entire career but isn’t happy with the one-year contract and squad player role he’s being offered, so a move abroad is on the cards. He’s made 43 appearances in 22/23 for a total of 2,586 minutes and is quite flexible, playing across the entire backline for Madrid. Nacho’s main position, though, is center back and he would presumably be Danilo D’Ambrosio’s replacement.

Despite his age (a three-year contract would put him at 36 when he leaves the club), Nacho would be a definite boost to the squad. D’Ambrosio has declined and even if he stays for some reason (his contract expires this summer), he can’t be relied on anymore. Nacho has experience at the highest levels and still put in serious minutes for Madrid this season, so on paper, he seems like the perfect depth piece to add to the backline.
