This season hasn’t always been pretty. There were calls for Simone Inzaghi to be fired, even within the last few months, and questions about financial stability and the future of the club. Well, those financial questions are still up in the air after this year’s Champions League pile of cash runs out, but that’s another year’s concern.
With yesterday’s win over Atalanta, Inter Milan officially secured Champions League qualification for next season, regardless of what happens in Turkey against Manchester City. It’s a lovely thing to accomplish off the back of a midweek Coppa Italia trophy and a domestic season full of ups and downs.
This means the lads will get to have heavy rotation next week in the Serie A season finale in order to come in fresh against City in two weeks’ time. It’s hard to believe how this season has turned out: a domestic trophy, Champions League qualification, and a chance to put the ultimate cherry on top in 13 days’ time.
