Inter Milan’s midfield is getting up there in combined age. There is yet to be a starting player featured within Luciano Spalletti’s midfield that is 22 years or younger.
As the weeks go on, the Nerazzurri continue to look more and more impressive in Serie A competition. It might be too early to call, but Inter’s play suggests some form of European competition next season.
For age, potential and talent reasons, sources such as SempreInter suggest that the Italian side are in on Atalanta midfielder Bryan Cristante. Atalanta continues to produce a variety of young talent, and Cristante looks to be another addition to that narrative.
The 22-year-old looks to be that all-around midfielder that Inter Milan love to have. He contributes both offensively and defensively.
Cristante has 5 goals this season; 4 of which come from the Serie A and 1 goal against Everton in the Europa League. In both competitions, Cristante is averaging very similar passing numbers. The Italian averages around 39 passes per game, and completes 82 percent of them.
Even though the young product is listed as an attacking midfielder does not mean he can’t contribute defensively. Cristante averages around 2 tackles per game along with 1 interception.
According to WhoScored, Cristante is 10th on his squad in average match rating for the season.
Cristante did wear the Rossoneri shirt once upon a time, but the rival Milan side sold him to Portuguese club Benfica. Bryan can feel pride putting on an Inter shirt when playing against the side that stunned many when Milan sold him.
It turns out that another Serie A side in Lazio are eyeing the likes of Cristante, along with Premier League side West Ham United. Inter Milan are going to have to move quick if they’re going to capture the services of the young midfielder.
