It certainly wouldn’t be a bad get for the Nerazzurri, but is the price too high?
News from Italy this weekend link Inter to Fiorentina and Italy U-21 midfielder Federico Bernardeschi.
While Juventus, Arsenal and Chelsea are apparently keeping an eye on him, it is Inter that have looked to put money on a deal. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Luciano Spalletti is looking at €35 million plus … and you’ll love this … either Gianluca Caprari or Éder.
Viola boss Stefano Pioli is likely Éder, but Caprari will likely be the player involved in the deal as he returns from a loan stint with Pescara.
Bernardeschi has reportedly stated he prefers a move to Juventus, but two things make that unlikely: 1. Fiorentina would try everything not to sell to their rivals and, 2. Juventus would not necessarily spend up to €50 million on a player that they really don’t need. And €50 million is what the Viola are apparently asking for.
While is market value is around €30 million, Fiorentina would be parting with their second-leading goal scorer from this season. Bernardeschi found the back of the net 11 times in 32 games this past season.
There is a benefit for Bernardeschi coming to Internazionale. The first is obvious … playing time. He would be a good complement to Joao Mário I the midfield and could provide a nice attacking option in the midfield if Éver Banega goes.
The extra playing time could prove beneficial as Bernardeschi is currently with the U-21s and is battling for a spot on Italy’s 2018 World Cup team.
