Welcome Interistas to the first installment of Inter Links. Here we scan some headlines around the Nerazzurri, Serie A and the global game. We will pluck news from Italy and abroad and provide our own personality. Think of it as a one-stop-shop for all things Inter, Italy and global for football.
Without further adieu, here is this week’s edition of Inter Links:
Italy U-21s Fall To Czech Republic
We really didn’t see this coming and, clearly, neither did the Azzurrini as the Italy U-21s dropped a 3-1 decision Wednesday in the European Under-21 Championship. Now, it means Italy need a win over Germany to even sniff qualification. Even with a 2-0 win over Denmark in their opener, Italy is not assured a spot in the knockout round.
No Emre Can for Juve

I really hope this one is true. Apparently Juventus is making a hard sell to Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool management to sell midfielder Emre Can. Can is coming into the final year of his contract at Anfield, but the Reds are having none of the talk of the 23-year-old moving to Juve. The hope in Liverpool is that a contract extension can be reached with the German international as the Reds attempt to bolster their midfield ahead of the Champions League. Hey, so long as he doesn’t go to Juve … I can live with that.
Speaking of Liverpool And Italy

The saga of Roma striker Mohamed Salah may finally be coming to an end. Various reports are that Salah will be announced at Anfield today. His price tag from Roma … £39 million. Other reports are that the Egypt international will sign a deal worth £90,000 per week with the Reds.
So No Alves at Juve
I really don’t mind if the news continues to be bad for Juventus as Wednesday was not a good day for la Vecchia Signora. Dani Alves is leaving Juve with Manchester City as a possible landing spot for the Brazilian right back.
“Alves has realized he has a desire to try a new experience, so we’re trying to reach a mutual termination of his contract and we wish him good luck.
“There’s certainly sadness because of what’s been said, but I can confirm there’s been no breakdown in our relationship.”
Guiseppe Marotta, Juventus chief executive
Set pieces:
- Our friends at Barca Blaugranes suggest it isn’t likely Barcelona get Inter’s Geoffrey Kondogbia or Guangzhou’s Paulinho.
- Apparently Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is ordering his board to cough up £100 million to allow him to sign Alex Sandro and Leonardo Bonnucci from Juventus.
- Sampdoria’s Antonio Cassano said he is ready to play, going so far as to say, “I’m still the best in Italy.” Maybe in beer pong.
That is going to do it for me. Remember, if you are interested in being a contributor or editor for Serpents of Madonnina, shoot me an email. Got ideas for posts or want to make a FanPost, that’s cool too. Forza Inter!!
