It looked to be a difficult task for Inter to break down Genoa. Fortunately, a late breakthrough from Danilo D'Ambrosio secured 3 points for Luciano Spalletti’s men as they now sit in third on the Serie A table.

Match Recap
Inter Milan came out attacking in the opening minutes of this fixture. Within the opening minute of the contest, Ivan Perisic connected with a bouncing volley but sent it just over the roof of the net.
There was a lot of patient play in the opening frame of this match. Samir Handanovic proved to be much better in this contest than the one prior. Towards the end of the first half, Genoa midfielder Adel Taarabt curved a perfect shot outside of the box that got tipped wide by an even better effort from Handanovic.
Towards first half stoppage time, Marcelo Brozovic accepted a pass outside of the box, took a touch, and rang the ball off of the post and out. Best chance for Inter in the game thus far.

Inter kept applying the pressure towards the 64th minute when Matias Vecino got some gel on Brozovic’s cross which got deflected just before Eder could tap it home.
Internazionale would keep trying shots from outside of the box. Brozovic worked his way down the middle of San Siro to rip a shot off of Genoa keeper Mattia Perin. The rebound opportunity was too wide for Mauro Icardi who could only shoot at the side of the cage. Eder would try a similar shot from outside the box, but this one was handled by Perin.
Handanovic would continue his strong effort in goal. Genoa midfielder Stephane Omeonga was sent in to take a shot on goal. Omeonga’s shot was deflected up by the Slovenian and then safely into his palms.
Points were needed in this one to keep up with the likes of Juventus and Napoli, and did Inter grab those points ever so well. Joao Mario sent in a cross that D'Ambrosio connected with and planted into the bottom corner. San Siro went wild as victory was a guarantee from there.
Final: Inter 1 - 0 Genoa
