A brace from Mauro Icardi was enough to push Inter Milan past SPAL, 2-1 over the weekend. Here’s a look at how we rated the players’ performance:
Samir Handanovic - After Mauro Icardi was probably second in line for man of the match with a string of good saves. 7.5
Joao Miranda - Committed an error for the penalty and luckily was not punished for it, also received a yellow card, not the best match. 6.0
Milan Skriniar - Made up for the shortcomings of his experienced partner, had a really good, solid match. 7.0
Sime Vrsaljko - Great job getting an assist in his first match back from injury, the deflection came off of him for the opponents goal but he couldn’t predict that it would practically be put on the striker’s foot. 6.5
Kwadwo Asamoah - Even though he had a tough time defending occasionally, can’t help but feel at ease with him in the backline, such an intelligent player. 6.5
Matias Vecino - Nothing special from Vecino this time but a comfortable match from him where he committed few errors. 6.0
Borja Valero - Great job deputising for Marcelo Brozovic once again, looked like a thirty-year old this run out. 6.5
Keita Balde - Once again, every other transfer has shown their capabilities, Balde continues to disappoint. The one moment he got his favoured position on the left a goal-scoring opportunity was almost created. Still, a good player will grab his opportunity with two hands no matter where he is played. 5.0
Ivan Perisic - Ivan may never be a player to destroy the opposition from minute one to 90 but what we know for certain by now is that he arrives in strong, powerful and magical moments. He’s similar to Icardi in the sense that if you keep him on for ninety minutes and get nothing then you ask why they were left on so long. But on the flip side they will more often than not make the difference when given enough time. 7.0
Radja Nainggolan - The Belgian beast had an efficient match. His shots were a little off, but he’s still finding ways to link up with Icardi which will only get better over time. 6.0
Mauro Icardi - After shaking off his goalless start to the season Mauro’s good form continues. His first goal was down to opportunism and positioning and his second was a beauty, from the ball played, to how he controlled it and dispatched it. 8.0
Substitutes:
Lautaro Martinez - Drew defenders and created space for Icardi’s second goal. Was lively after coming on and put in a team effort. 6.5
Roberto Gagliardini - Threw his weight around and was brought on as a solid option to see out the match. N/A
Matteo Politano - So far has been much more effective as a starter than a substitute. N/A
