According the numerous reports in Italy and Argentina, Inter Milan and Racing Club have agreed to a transfer deal worth €20.2 million.

The Nerazzurri will acquire Argentinian striker Lautaro Martinez in June, according to reports from Calciomercato and TalkSport.

The 20-year-old confirmed to Ole he has talked with Inter Milan director Piero Ausilio.

“I met Ausilio and he told me about Inter,” Martinez told Ole. “He told me things that I’d already heard from [former Inter Milan striker and current Racing director of football Diego] Milito.”

The deal is reportedly through 2023.

Martinez had previously been linked with Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. Atletico had apparently offered €12 million for Martinez in November, but Racing turned the offer down.

Argentina manager Jorge Sampaoli has also taken an interest in Martinez who may get a call up to the national team for the 2018 World Cup in Russia later this year.

“My future? I’m happy to stay at Racing for now. Negotiations between the two clubs are for my agent,” Martinez said. “I’m definitely staying here until June, so I can’t afford to think of anything else.”

Inter could be looking for an additional striking option to Mauro Icardi, who has scored just two goals in the last eight games for Inter – all games without wins for the Nerazzurri.

Then again, the club could be looking for his replacement.

Most recently, Martinez scored a hat trick against Huracan while Ausilio, Javier Zanetti and Milito were in attendance. That gave him seven goals in nine games this season for Racing.

Regardless of the outcome, it appears Inter have picked themselves up a talented striker. What they do with him, however, may be a different story.
