Speaking with reporters in Argentina, Racing Club striker Lautaro Martinez confirmed his deal with Inter Milan is nearly complete.

“Inter? Almost everything is set, there are some final details to be worked out but when I come back to Argentina there will be a meeting with my agent and everything will be settled,” he told reporters, as quoted by Football-Italia.net. “I keep repeating though that right now my only thought is about Racing, I want to give 100 per cent for this club and help achieve our objectives.”

Argentina national team coach Jorge Sampaoli recently picked Martinez for the national team as it takes on Italy and Spain in a pair of international friendlies during this break.

It is the first time Martinez has been called up by the Albieceleste. He will join former Inter midfielder Ever Banega on the squad.

In the first 15 games of the season with Racing, Martinez has scored 13 goals, including a hat trick against Cruzeiro in the Libertadores Cup in late February and one against CA Hurricane earlier in the month. In First Division play, Martinez has scored in each of the last three matches and Racing has climbed to sixth. The squad has won seven of their last nine league matches.

If all is nearly done, Martinez will join the Nerazzurri in the summer. Initial reports suggested Inter will pay nearly €20.2 million to bring him to Italy next season.
