Inter Milan could bolster its midfield and not with Barcelona product Rafinha.
Over the weekend, several Italian media outlets reported the Nerazzurri finalized a deal that will bring Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan to the San Siro to reunite with his former boss Luciano Spalletti.
According to the reports, the deal will include €29 million plus Inter’s Primavera star Nicolo Zaniolo and will include an annual salary of €4.5 million.
Nainggolan has plenty of experience with Spalletti as the current Inter boss managed Roma for two seasons, leading them to the Champions League with the help of Nainggolan in the middle.
Last season, Nainggolan made 42 appearances for Roma and contributed six goals with 11 assists in those matches as Roma made a run deep into the Champions League and finished third in Serie A.
He joined the capitol club from Cagliari Calcio in 2014 and has found the back of the net 33 times total for Roma.
If the reports stand, Inter will swap Zaniolo who scored 14 goals and had 10 assists for Inter’s Scudetto-winning Primavera team this season.
This could prove to be a very good move for the Nerazzurri as they are in need of improving their attacking options in the middle. Nainggolan may be able to fill the trequartista role that Inter has sorely missed – and had with Rafinha – but won’t break the bank as a deal with Rafinha would have.
I'm perpetually amazed at how quick people are to dismiss Radja Nainggolan. Still the club's best midfielder by a country mile.— Chiesa di Totti (@chiesaditotti) June 9, 2018
Additionally, his experience working with Spalletti as well as his experience in Serie A could prove to be extremely valuable.
Let’s not forget his more recent Champions League experience as well.
The pay out for Nainggolan may be a little high but Transfermarkt.com has his market valuation at €40.5 million. He could be a risk with injury, but not as high as Rafinha.
