Inter Milan finally find the back of the net in the second half to break their 3-match losing skid.
The Nerazzurri struggled in the final third for much of the first half of the match despite controlling possession. Spalletti elected to make his first change in the 77th minute bringing on Lautaro Martinez who quickly found the back of the net in the 80th minute.
The Argentine finished off a beautiful threaded through ball from Radja Nainggolan to score the decisive goal in a 1-0 Inter victory. Here are our contenders for Man of the Match.
Nainggolan nearly went the distance, putting in his longest shift since October. He played an aggressively, attempting to create opportunities throughout the match.
The Belgian finished the match with five shots and created several dangerous opportunities throughout. His most important contribution came in the 80th minute as he put in a beautiful through ball into the box that found Martinez who slotted a shot into the back of the net for the winning goal.
It’s hard not to include the man who scored the game winner. Lautaro’s substitution into the match in the 77th minute changed how Parma had to defend Inter and it showed immediately.
Icardi had little to no support prior to his entrance, but once Lautaro was on the pitch he was able to draw attention away from Icardi. Despite being in the match for 20 minutes, Martinez was able to find a ball from Nainggolan in the 80th minute and force a shot across his body into the back of the net to give Inter the decisive goal. In his short time in the match he was able to get two shots off inside the box and had 2 key passes.
Hopefully his contribution in this match will give Spalletti something to think about moving forward in how he uses the Argentine forward.
Marcelo Brozovic (Man of the Match)
Despite not being involved in the scoring, Brozovic was the most active player for the Nerazzurri.
He had a shot the woodwork and completed over 90 passes on the day. He was a force in the midfield on both ends of the pitch finishing the match with 4 completed dribbles and 4 successful tackles. He was all over the pitch and was huge part of why Inter controlled possession for most of the match. His contributions on both ends of the pitch are why I have to give Brozovic the Man of the Match.
