Inter Milan draws Eintracht Frankfurt in Europa League

Nerazzurri get into round of 16.

This morning, Inter Milan drew Eintracht Frankfurt in the round of 16 of the Europa League, following the selection in Nyon.

Eintracht – currently seventh in the German Bundesliga – advanced to the round of 16 following a 4-1 win at home over Shakhtar Donetsk. Frankfurt advanced 6-3 on aggregate.

Inter, on the other hand sit third in Serie A and advanced after a 4-0 pasting of Rapid Wien Thursday in the round of 32. They defeated the Austrian side 5-0 on aggregate.

The first match of the two-legged tie will be March 7 in Frankfurt with the following match on March 14 at the Giuseppe Meazza in Milan.

In the Europa League group stage, Eintracht finished first in its group on 18 points, taking six wins from all six matches – including two wins against Lazio. They had 17 goals and gave up just five – the highest goal differential of any team except Sevilla and FC Krasnodar.

The Nerazzurri dropped into the Europa League after finishing third in its Champions League group.
