Day 5,324 of Icardi-gate with Inter Milan

It certainly seems that long doesn’t it?

More news on the ongoing feud between striker Mauro Icardi, his wife/agent Wanda Nara and Inter Milan.

Of course, it is a day that ends in –y isn’t it?

Today is no different.

FCInterNews.it reported that Icardi’s recent meeting with Inter Milan brass didn’t go so well. It was so bad that Icardi has said he will not speak to anyone at the club he has previously met with regarding his ongoing issues.

“This is the last time I speak with you,” he is quoted as saying.

That has set the stage for a meeting between Icardi and Inter Milan President Steven Zhang to come possibly following the Derby della Madonnina with AC Milan later this month.

It is suggested he will ask for answers from Zhang on what the club’s intentions are with him after the season is over. If the decision is to sell, it is likely Icardi will not play for Inter again.

Icardi reportedly has sought to begin training with the club but has been denied that. His physiotherapy for the knee injury he claims has kept him out of practice, and the pitch will continue … for now.

On top of that, Icardi was left out of a poster the club created as part of its new commercial agreement with electrical products manufacturer AUX Group.

And, let’s not forget about Nara.

In a recent post on Instagram, Nara decided it would be in her and Icardi’s best interest to like Real Madrid.

Oh, and Nara elected to get into a war of words with an Inter fan who suggested she was the reason Icardi was not playing for Inter. The message was posted on Twitter but has since been deleted.

“I don’t make those decisions; I haven’t made any. Whoever makes the decisions will be responsible. My job is to fix things and find the best solution... but I have nothing to do with it! A kiss and thank you... and if they made you believe anything else, fine.”

She also believes Inter will have to renew Icardi if they have hopes of luring Antonio Conte or Max Allegri in as the manager next year as both have suggested that is a condition of which they would consider taking the Inter job from Luciano Spalletti, according to the FCInterNews report. Of course, that is coming from Nara, and there has been nothing official to suggest either Conte or Allegri made such a claim.

All of this just adds to the frustration of many Inter fans, I have to believe. There needs to be some resolution to this, one way or the other.

I can only imagine the players feel the same way. These headlines have dominated Inter Milan since Icardi had the captain’s armband taken away before the team’s first leg of the Europa League round of 32 against Rapid Wien.

I am sure they are fielding questions, not about the play on the pitch, but about Icardi. And, I could believe they are getting a little tired of it.

Zhang needs to return to Milan and sort this out pronto. That is the only way any of us are going to get past this.
