One team is looking to maintain its solid position near the top of the Serie A table while the other is just hoping to stay alive.

Frosinone is hoping to climb the ladder out of the relegation zone Sunday when they host third-place Inter Milan at the Stadio Benito Stirpe in Frosinone.

The Nerazzurri still have a hold on a Champions League position as they sit third in the league – two points ahead of AC Milan (who won Saturday). They are also three points up on AS Roma with a game in hand over both of them.

On the other hand, the Canarini Cioclari are still seven points from safety in the relegation zone and desperately need a win to keep their hopes of remaining in Serie A alive.

Inter Milan news (W-W-L-D-W)

While managing just one win since their triumph in the Derby della Madonnina, Inter have been fortunate to have other teams who would threaten their position also fail to capitalize.

The biggest issue for the Nerazzurri is the absence of midfielder Marcelo Brozovic who is likely out for the rest of April.

However, a bright spot is the return of defender Stefan de Vrij and striker Lautaro Martinez – both who have been out since the March international break.

Despite their absence, Inter’s defense has held opponents to just three goals in six matches. The offense, on the other hand, has been a bit wishy-washy, scoring three against AC Milan, four against Genoa, but held scoreless against Lazio and Atalanta.

Mauro Icardi should start up top again with the possibility of Martinez coming off the bench.

On defense, Milan Skriniar and Joao Miranda could anchor with Danilo D’Ambrosio or Henrique Dalbert starting and Kwadwo Asamoah picking put the fourth spot, or resting.

Projected lineup: Handanovic; D’Ambrosio, Miranda, De Vrij, Dalbert; Gagliardini, Valero; Politano, Vecino, Perisic; Icardi

Frosinone news (L-L-L-W-W)

Frosinone are riding a two-match winning streak – with wins over Fiorentina and Parma – but are still languishing in the relegation zone.

Daniel Ciofani has shined, scoring in each of the last two matches, while Inter loanee Andrea Pinamonti has also come alive of late.

By being in 19th-place overall, Frosinone are playing for their Serie A lives which could be a big swing for the match Sunday.

However, they have failed to score against the Nerazzurri in their previous three league matches and, with Inter’s defense continuing to shine, Sunday could be another blanking.

A win would certainly help Frosinone, who are chasing Empoli to safety. A loss coupled with an Empoli win against Atalanta Monday would certainly doom the Canarini Cioclari to Serie B next season.

Projected lineup: Sportiello; Goldaniga, Salamon, Capuano; Paganini, Chibsah, Sammarco, Valzania, Beghetto; Ciofani, Pinamonti
