Inter Milan are continuing their search for upgrades to its midfield.

Now, it’s reported the Nerazzurri are looking to Argentina for possible reinforcements to an already weak center.

Football Italia is reporting that Inter is keeping tabs on Boca Juniors midfielder Agustin Almendra, who draws a comparison to Juan Roman Riquelme.

While Inter has not submitted an offer, Almendra’s release clause is set at €20 million as he is viewed as a key to continued success for the Argentine club.

Almendra is more of an offensive midfielder with solid field vision and good skills.

In his 15 matches for Boca Juniors, Almendra has scored once and added an assist. He also appeared in two Copa Libertadores matches.

His market valuation, according to Transfermarkt, is around €5.7 million, making the €20 million release clause a bit high. Inter may have to do some dealing if their interest is more than just passing. Perhaps offering to allow Boca to keep Almendra for a season on loan could soften that blow.

Additionally, Inter could face competition from Napoli, AS Roma and Manchester City for Almendra.

Another concern is age. Almendra is only 19 years of age and could face difficulty adapting to the Italian game out of the gate. It would also be difficult for someone that age to command a lot of respect on the pitch needed for a midfield leader.

It would be an aggressive pick up for Inter, but not for that price.
