Reports from around the globe and the internet are reporting that Lionel Messi has officially requested his contract be terminated at FC Barcelona.
The contractual situation involving Lionel Messi and Barcelona is a bit messy, but the TLDR is that Messi had a clause to terminate his contract that apparently ended in June. However, with the extension of the season due to Covid-19, Messi believes that clause has been extended.
Making things more interesting, Barcelona are reportedly considering taking Messi to court over this difference in opinion over the contract. Meaning we might be waiting on anything official for a bit of time. Leaving the chance that Messi isn’t actually able to leave the club till next summer when his contract ends.
Inter Milan have been in the news over the last few months that they’re interested in signing Lionel Messi should he choose to leave Barcelona. There are certainly some conference calls and attempts to reach out to Messi’s camp happening in Italy right now. Unfortunately, Inter might be behind in the call queue to a certain Pep Guardiola and Manchester City.
