Inter’s Supercoppa Matchup With Juventus Won’t Be Re-Scheduled as Requested

Despite the requests of both Inter Milan and Juventus, the Supercoppa matchup between the two sides won’t be moved. The two sides had requested for the match to be moved due to the growing number of COVID cases in the two teams and a reduced stadium capacity in Italy.

However, Serie A decided that the match would move forward on January 12th in Milan. Sky Italia reported that the vote was 6-0 in the council and comes as no surprise. There are different priorities between the council and the clubs, and making sure the match takes place on time is certainly a choice.

Both Inter and Juventus will be coming into the match on heavy legs with Juventus playing Napoli and Roma heading into the match, and Inter playing Bologna and Lazio beforehand. It’s disappointing this level of a fixture won’t be in front of a packed San Siro, but at this point, we’re all unfortunately used to it.
