Marcelo Brozovic Wins Serie A Midfielder of the Year

It’s the second year in a row an Inter player has won after Nicolo Barella last season

Marcelo Brozovic is Serie A’s midfielder of the season. The league announced its end-of-season awards today (strangely two days before the season actually ends), with Brozovic taking home honors and continuing Inter’s run of winning an award every season since it began in 2018/19. Last season it was Nicolo Barella who received the same award as his Croatian midfield partner.

Brozovic racked up 35 appearances this season (all starts), scoring twice. Perhaps the best example of his quality is how Inter plays without him on the pitch - not great, to put it kindly. Brozovic has been one of the Nerazzurri’s most important players for three seasons running, though this is his first time picking up the recognition.

Other winners include Mike Maignan (goalkeeper of the year), Gleison Bremer (defender), Victor Osimhen (U-23 player of the year), and Ciro Immobile (attacker). The MVP will be announced after the season ends.

Congrats, Marcelo!
