Romelu Lukaku hasn’t even been officially announced yet and the reports are already swirling about an extension to the loan deal. The Belgian striker is expected to return to Inter Milan on a one-year loan deal that doesn’t include an obligation or option to buy.

The report, from Tuttosport via SempreInter, details how Inter are already working on extending the loan deal next summer for another year. That would lead to Inter potentially being able to buy Lukaku in the summer of 2024 when his validation has decreased to around €46 million.

At that point, Inter could afford the permanent return of the Belgian. If the second year-long loan would include an obligation buy remains to be seen. Hopefully, Rom comes back at full strength and can regain some of that confidence that was on display in the Scudetto winning campaign just one season ago.
