Dejan Stankovic to Say Goodbye

New, comments
Valerio Pennicino

It’s been nine years since Dejan Stankovic walked into the Inter offices to sign his name, get a shirt and take a handshake photo. Now the inter journey is over for the 34 year old midfielder.

TMW and Sky are both reporting that today, Dejan and Branca are meeting to firm up the final clauses, dot the lower case j’s and cross the t’s. The move was widely anticipated (link here to read my article on June 11) and saves Inter in the region of €5 million on its next budget to cut losses, reinvest or both. There is also a widely anticipated move to remove Cristian Chivu from the salary rolls, although his agent denies any meetings planned to do that.

Deki has amasses an impressive combination of stats while at Inter:

League Games: 231

League Goals: 29

International Competition Games: 63

International Competition Goals: 10

Domestic Cup Games: 36

Domestic Cup Goals: 3

Total Games: 330

Total Goals: 42

Just off the top of my head, these are my favorite Deki moments of recent years:

1. I love the guy in the background of the goal hammering his head in disgust at the Genoa goalkeeper.

2. Simply amazing volley

And a nice compilation with some of his earlier days in Yugoslavia:
