Inter to up Shaqiri offer, sponsor Nike to help?

Inter have reportedly increased their offer to Bayern in an attempt to secure the transfer of Xherdan Shaqiri, and apparently Nike has offered to cover some of the transfer fees.

It has recently been reported by the BBC that Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri has agreed to join Inter Milan, now the Italian club just needs to make a good enough offer to Bayern in order to beat out Liverpool, the other major horse in the Shaqiri race.

The Nerazzurri have reportedly offered the German side €3 million up front with €12-13 million additional at season's end. That larger sum would be payable over the next three years.

As for wages, it is understood that Inter has made an offer to Shaqiri of €2.5 million euros per year with added bonuses included in his contract until 2019.

Additionally, in another intriguing report from Il Corriere dello Sport, major sponsor Nike is also keen to see this transfer go through, as Shaqiri is the corporation's most significant sponsored athlete in Switzerland and a Shaqiri move to Inter would supposedly be better for Nike from a commercial standpoint.

Apparently the folks at Nike have even offered to pay (an unknown) portion of the agreed fees between the teams in order to seal this particular transfer.

There are so many conflicting reports on the 23-year-old Swiss international at this point. We'll just have to wait and see what the next few days bring for both Inter and Shaqiri.
