Match Info

When: Sunday, May 14th, 6:30am ET/12:30pm CET

Where: San Siro; Milan, Italy

Vecchi’s back guys! The Primavera coach has returned as interim manager for the final three matches of the season to try to force some sort of reaction out of the players that have been a shadow of their former selves over the past series of games. The returning coach made it clear that no player is guaranteed a spot in his starting 11 and that each player would have to earn their position, not expect it to be handed to them-a criticism of Stefano Pioli during the last parts of his tenure at Inter. Stefano Vecchi has a perfect record in Serie A and he will want to protect that statistic for as long as possible, and with the players likely eager to put the ugliness of the final moments of the Pioli era behind them, expect a response from Inter in this match.

Inter’s opponents Sassuolo come into this match in 14th place. They’ve struggled more than most people expected them to this campaign (likely due to them also being in the Europa League) and their club is also expected to go through some summer changes. Their previous match saw them hold Fiorentina to a draw in a battle of wide-men that Inter have been rumored to want throughout this campaign, Berardi and Bernardeschi. Though they are guaranteed a midtable finish pretty much no matter what, the visitors will want to put on a strong showing for their visiting fans. Plus we all know they would love to have the chance to avenge their many 7 goal thrashings we’ve given them over the past few years.

Team News

Gary Medel, Miranda, and Geoffrey Kondogbia are all out for this match, while Cristian Ansaldi and Jeison Murillo have both returned. Vecchi called up some Primavera players (including the promising youngster Zinho Vanheusden) to replace the missing center-backs. In Vecchi’s press conference he made it clear that Suning have given him full control to play whoever and however he wants. Given that I really have no idea what the starting 11 will look like tomorrow and I’m just going take a guess at this one.

Probable Starting XIs

Inter (4-3-3): Handanovic; D'Ambrosio, Andreolli, Murillo, Ansaldi; Brozovic, Gagliardini, J. Mario; G. Barbosa, Icardi, Perisic

(Is putting Gabriel Barbosa in the starting lineup wishful thinking? Probably)
