To say the last few days have been a rollercoaster might be one of the understatements of the year. On Sunday Inter lifted the Scudetto. By Wednesday Antonio Conte had walked out of Appiano Gentile once and for all. Thursday saw rumors of Simone Inzaghi’s appointment as manager pick up steam and all that’s remaining is an official announcement. Friday, however, finally brought some good news to the Nerazzurri camp. Alessandro Bastoni has signed a contract extension until 2024.

MILAN - FC Internazionale Milano are delighted to announce having reached an agreement with Alessandro Bastoni for a renewal of his contract: the 22-year old defender will remain at San Siro until 30 June 2024
Even at 22 years of age, the Italian has been a crucial part of Inter’s league-best defense the past two seasons. He made 41 appearances in the Nerazzurri’s Scudetto winning campaign, including 33 Serie A starts. Most memorably, Bastoni assisted Nicolo Barella’s goal in the 2-0 win over Juventus with a pin-point long ball in behind from deep in his own half. After debuting for the national team last November, Bastoni is part of Italy’s Euro 2020 squad as well, though he hasn’t locked down a starting role yet. His future is very bright and let’s hope he is a mainstay in the Inter backline for years to come.
Forza Alessandro!
