In a wild set of events, Cameroon goalkeeper Andre Onana is leaving the World Cup and heading home. The news broke this morning before Cameroon’s vital match with Serbia when Onana was left off the squad.
According to subsequent reports, the benching was due to tactical disagreements. Apparently, Onana was taking too many risks with his feet for the liking of Cameroon’s manager Rigobert Song.
They wanted Onana to play a more conventional safe style of keeping, and Onana wasn’t about to change how he played. Cameroon then went on to concede three goals to Serbia so not sure that decision paid off all too well.
