Looking to right the ship yet again in this tumultuous 2022, Inter Milan host Fiorentina for the second leg of a Serie A matchup that first happened all the way back in September of 2021. The new Serie A format has made return legs randomized, which has placed this leg almost exactly six months from when Inter narrowly escaped with a 3-1 win in Florence early in the season. Both teams sit in a very different spot than they did at that point of the season, but both will be looking to get their early season ambitions back on track.

After a hard fought draw with Torino in Turin, Inter sit four points off of the top of Serie A with a game in hand. Inter have not been this far off of the summit of Serie A since early portions of the season. The scoring has dried up and little has worked to remedy the issue, bar a 5-0 win over strugglers Salernitana. Inter will need a strong attacking approach to get past aa strong Fiorentina side.
Alarmingly, Inter could be without both Marcelo Brozovic and Stefan de Vrij for a second consecutive match. The Nerazzurri could not manage a win without the two against Torino, but maybe a week between matches will be the perpetration time needed for Simone Inzaghi to engineer an approach that will finally adjust for his side’s weaknesses.

It took a red card and 70 minutes, but Fiorentina managed to squeak by Bologna last weekend. Lucas Torreira broke the deadlock for Vincenzo Italiano’s team, who sit at eighth on the Serie A table. Despite the midtable positioning and the departure of Dusan Vlahovic, Fiorentina are still a tough side to beat that have a very clear cut attacking approach to their game.

Prediction: Inter 1-0 Fiorentina
Things have not been going well for Inter in front of goal, something that could still trouble the hosts in this match. However, being at home will hopefully be what Inter need to get just one goal past Italiano’s side. With no Vlahovic, Inter will be tested less in defense and should be able to keep a clean sheet that would send Inter into the international break on a very positive note.
Forza Inter!
