This team, man. Only Inter can go from 6 straight winless to putting one foot into a UEFA Champions League semifinal. Unfortunately other commitments meant I had to miss out on Inter’s first leg against Benfica but boy was it quite the surprise to see a 2-0 score line in the good guys’ favor when I was able to check in on what I’d missed.

Without further ado, here are the highlights from one massive victory for the Nerazzurri.

If nothing else, Simone Inzaghi is a master of the cup competition. Other than the goal scorers Nicole Barella and Romelu Lukaku, Andre Onana (notching his 6th shutout in 9 UCL games) and Marcelo Brozovic deserve special shoutouts, though in truth this was a true team victory. Of course, it wasn’t without the problems that have plagued Inter over recent matches (still no open-play goals from any strikers…) but at this stage of the season it’s the results that matter and it’s hard to argue with a 2-0 away win at a team that had gone undefeated against PSG and Juventus.

The return leg will be next Wednesday at the San Siro, although first comes a clash with Monza in Milano this Saturday. A winning streak sure would be nice…

Forza Inter!
