When Tottenham Hotspur and Inter Milan open the 2018/19 Champions League campaign at the San Siro next week, the London club will likely be without two of their heavy-hitters.

Sky Sports reported that goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and midfielder Dele Alli will be ruled out for Tottenham’s league match with Liverpool this weekend and their Champions League opener at Inter Milan next week.

According to the reports, Lloris is “expected to be out for several weeks” with a thigh injury in addition to his off-the-field issues where he was fined more than €50,000 and banned from driving for 20 months following a drunk driving charge.

The shot-stopper was out for Tottenham’s 2-1 loss at Watford and missed the international break with France due to the injury.

“He is going to do another scan to see how is the evolution of his injury,” said Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino to Sky Sports.

Alli, on the other hand, apparently suffered a muscle strain in England’s loss to Spain in the UEFA Nations League match during the break.

“(We are) disappointed because we are going to miss him for maybe this game (against Liverpool) and against Inter Milan in the Champions League,” Pochettino said. “But the most important thing is it is not a big issue and he will be available as soon as possible.”

As for Inter, it appears that Lautaro Martinez may be ruled out of the Tottenham clash with an injury and Sime Vrsaljko may also be ruled out, according to Calciomercato.com.

In addition, Mauro Icardi will undergo medical tests to determine if he will be ready to go for Inter’s league match with Parma this weekend and the Champions League opener.

Additionally, it is possible that Henrique Dalbert and Joao Miranda start against Parma to give Kwadwo Asamoah and Milan Skriniar time to rest before the match with Tottenham.
