After flying into the Coppa Italia final with an emphatic 3-0 win over AC Milan, Inter Milan have another test in their Scudetto aspirations on Saturday as Jose Mourinho travels to the San Siro for just the second time as a manager opposing Inter. All eyes will be on the Nerazzurri who can continue to pile pressure on Milan, who face Lazio on Sunday.

Everyone has seen it by now, the demolition job put on Milan by Inter after two league derbies that Inter could have, and probably should have, won. Lautaro Martinez played one of his best matches in an Inter shirt and Simone Inzaghi showed what his Inter truly look like when they are on top of their game, especially with the balance afforded to the team with the inclusion of Joaquin Correa. One of Correa’s best matches came in the first league match this season against Roma, where he and Edin Dzeko got Inter off to a flying start before the Argentine picked up an injury that lingered until March. The two will be looking to repeat that performance, without the injuries.

Inter have beaten Jose Mourinho twice this season, once at the Olimpico in Rome and once at San Siro. Doing it three times, however, is not guarantee against a manager of Mourinho’s stature. Roma have been rolling in recent weeks, but may be more preoccupied with their UEFA Conference League semifinal against Leicester on the upcoming Thursday.

Despite their problems with Bodo-Glimt, Roma have been a very solid team in 2022. While they have lost in cup competitions, they are unbeaten in Serie A since a narrow loss to Juventus in early January. Plenty of draws are littered in their wake, but Roma have played themselves into looking like they could have a productive season with Mourinho at the helm, especially if they can pull off a trophy in the Conference League.

Because of yellow card accumulation, Inter product Nicolo Zaniolo will be absent for this match. Backup goalkeeper Daniel Fuzato will also miss the match after being sent off from the bench against Napoli.

Prediction: Inter 1-0 Roma

If the predicted strike partnership is to be believed, Inter may struggle to find the back of the net, especially after the emotional high of beating Milan in the Coppa. However, as crunch time has descended upon Serie A, Inter have responded will and should take care of business just as they have in recent weeks.

Forza Inter!
