The Nerazzurri starlet is set to make a splash in Brazil…

The World Cup is less than a day away and Inter fans get the added bonus of watching Mateo Kovacic suit up for Croatia in the tournament opener against Brazil.

Nerazzurri Nation and avid Serie A observers are already well aware of the 20-year-old's talent and now the midfield maestro is ready to showcase his vast array of skills to a worldwide audience.

Kovacic will likely receive the starting nod against the Selecao at the Arena Corinthians in Sao Paulo and should slot in behind lone striker Nikica Jelavic.

Although Croatia will be massive underdogs against the hosts, it will be a good bet to advance past the group stages along with Brazil.

A deep run in the tournament will raise Kovacic's profile as his elegant style is sure to win over fans of the beautiful game, especially in Brazil where 'Joga Bonito' is not just a hollow platitude but a way of life.

The young Croatian likes to slip passes into impossibly tight crevices and enjoys dancing past defenders with the same type of gusto that Garrincha used to hypnotize his overmatched opponents.

Kovacic's presence at the World Cup will be bittersweet in some ways for Interisti, who don't want a long line of suitors banging on the door of the elegant playmaker.

Kovacic is like the fresh, new chic restaurant that all the locals adore and has managed to escape the eyes and ears of most tourists. But now it's about to receive some massive mainstream attention and their little secret will soon be out in the open.

Kovacic's sublime passing, natural flair, and fancy footwork has reportedly attracted the interest of some top Premier League clubs and a stellar showing in Brazil could make him one of the hottest, young commodities on the market.

Still, I'm hoping that Kovacic is one of the revelations of the tournament and his creative play convinces a few of his peers that there is an exciting new project at Inter that they should be a part of.
