Looking to garner some strength in the midfield, Inter Milan appear to be making a move for Welsh international Aaron Ramsay.

The Arsenal midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season and reports suggest talks have completely broken down over a new deal with the Gunners.

That said, despite interest from fellow Premier League sides Liverpool and Manchester United as well as Bayern Munich, the Nerazzurri have already struck a deal with Ramsay’s agent this week, according to La Repubblica (via Football Italia).

The deal will likely pay Ramsay around €6 million per year, putting him near striker Mauro Icardi’s wages pending a new deal for the Argentinian striker.

One thing is that Inter boss Luciano Spalletti is keen to have Ramsay join Inter in January and new Inter CEO Beppe Marotta is attempting to make that happen.

Ramsay has scored 60 goals in 350 matches with Arsenal since 2008 and has found the back of the net once this season so far.

If Inter waits until the end of the season, Ramsay would join the Nerazzurri on a free transfer. However, if the move is escalated to January, there could be a transfer fee involved, but the report does not suggest what that fee would be.

Speaking about transfers, Spalletti said it would be difficult to “intervene and improve it (the squad) considering the quality we have.”

“Should there be an opportunity to do so, the club will certainly be ready to take it,” Spalletti said, as quoted by FourFourTwo.

Inter have also reportedly expressed interest in Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil, who was left out of Arsenal’s loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the EPL Cup quarterfinals earlier this week.

Going the other way, news out of Italy is that AC Milan have reportedly expressed some interest in bringing in Gabriel Barbosa in January.

As we reported recently, West Ham United are still the potential front-runners for the Brazilian, but there could be some kind of deal that swaps Barbosa for either money or another player with their Milanese rivals.
